ASTRALINK is visual novel game available for free download on Mac, PC, and Linux systems. I designed the game's UI/UX, illustrated the characters and backgrounds, and also wrote the entirety of the game’s dialogue. I've always loved video games and so I jumped on the opportunity to design my own game for my BFA senior thesis.
As I researched gender representation in the media for my thesis, I found that movies, television shows, books, and video games have a plethora of cisgender male and female cast members, but few characters that fall outside of those categories: people who identify as transgender, non-binary, or genderfluid. With this in mind, I created a video game called ASTRALINK that follows the lives of six college students who run the gamut of the gender spectrum. While their gender identity is important to each of these characters, it does not define them, nor does it define the plot of the game, which is to communicate with your newfound friends as you navigate your way through college, relationships, and a conspiracy that could change everything.
